Announcement Seminar: “Basic Income Field Experiments” by Prof. Karl Widerquist at the GWP

The Götz Werner chair is pleased to announce that Karl Widerquist, Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University Qatar, has accepted a position as Guest Professor at the Götz Werner Chair, University of Freiburg for the first months of 2022. Professor Widerquist is an interdisciplinary academic, a prolific author, and a leader of the Basic Income Movement. He will be teaching a seminar, Basic Income Field Experiments, for master’s students based on some of his own research on UBI experiments and on the broad range of research on UBI experiments. It will begin with a discussion of the politics and economics of the 1970s Negative Income Tax experiments in the United States and Canada, followed by several lectures and discussions based on the book A Critical Discussion of Basic Income Experiments, and concluding with student reports involving critical analysis of recent or ongoing UBI experiments around the world.
