The Department of Economic Policy and Ordnungspolitik offers final theses on the following topics within our areas of expertise:

We are currently handling and offering topics related to sustainability (including interdisciplinary topics).

Research on Basic Income – General:

  • Social sustainability
  • Inequality
  • UBI (Universal Basic Income) as an exit option
  • UBI and development issues
  • Questions of funding and taxation
  • Country comparisons
  • Basic income reforms
  • Basic income as a form of social regulation

Research on Basic Income – Methodological (only for students with prior knowledge, e.g., lectures in the relevant methodology):

  • Microsimulations and accompanying research
  • Basic income and social contract experiments
  • Approval and acceptance studies
  • Game-theoretic approaches

Environmental Economics and Sustainability Policy – General:

  • Economic and ecological sustainability
  • Regulation of externalities and double dividends
  • Reform questions
  • Regulatory issues

Environmental Economics and Sustainability Policy – Methodological (only for students with prior knowledge, e.g., lectures in the relevant methodology):

  • Sustainability experiments
  • Approval and acceptance studies
  • Game-theoretic approaches

Participation in ongoing research projects (Master’s only):

  • Motivated and suitable students have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research and write their final thesis with a focus on potential publication.

Own Topic Proposals:

  • Students may propose their own topics, provided they relate to the areas mentioned above and meet the quality and feasibility requirements.

Application Process: The same application process applies to all final theses. Applications are possible on:

  • March 1
  • June 1
  • September 1
  • December 1

Submit the application form provided by the chair, along with the required attachments, by email to Ms. Maier (secretariat, email address in the form). Responses will be given within 10 days after the deadline.

Due to limited supervision capacity, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. If no supervision place is available, please refer to the central allocation process of the examination office.

Prerequisites: Successful participation in relevant courses is required. Bachelor’s students are particularly encouraged to attend the economic policy Seminar. Master’s and diploma students are advised to participate in seminars offered by the department. Each student must present their thesis at least once at the Ordnungspolitisches Colloquium, but this presentation is not graded.
